Federal and State Advocacy

Schumacher Group is actively involved on many fronts to positively impact our patients, physicians, partners and the industry at large. We monitor and influence at both the state and federal levels legislative and regulatory changes that affect all aspects of our industry - from patient safety and disaster response to reimbursement and professional liability. As a result of this commitment, all of our physicians are participating in the CMS Physician Quality Reporting Initiative for 2007 and 2008.

Our employees are members of various committees within The American College of Emergency Physicians and The Emergency Department Practice Management Association. In fact, Dr. William “Kip” Schumacher co-founded the national trade association, the Emergency Department Practice Management Association (EDPMA) in 1997. Dr. Randy Pilgrim, President and Chief Medical Officer, is the current chair of EDPMA. The Schumacher Group is committed to our role as advocate in the health care arena. As such, we provide our physicians the ability to make their voices heard in state legislature and at the federal level through our physician portal.

Emergency Medicine Activism at a Mouse Click

Schumacher Group Providers have a quick and easy means for voicing their position on current federal and state legislation and issues. Right at their fingertips, the 'TAKE ACTION' feature on the Provider Portal provides a one stop shop to monitor current legislation affecting patients and systems, and allows them to impact these issues with a click of their mouse.

This online action tool quickly executes a pre-drafted letter and allows providers, as well as Schumacher Group employees, to submit by email, mail or fax, in support or opposition of a particular legislative issue. The instrument also allows them to craft their own letters to their legislators.

Issues are reported on the Provider Portal Advocacy Page real-time. Schumacher Group providers can log into the portal through the home page of this site.
