Randy Pilgrim, MD, FACEP, FAAFP
CEO and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Pilgrim brings a wealth of experience beyond clinical medicine to his current role; his business acumen, analytical skills, and risk management experience provide a unique skill set for impacting patient care, meeting physicians’ practice needs, and addressing key business dynamics. Following his training as an actuary with Northwestern National Life, he completed medical school and residency at the University of Minnesota. Board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine, his current position provides executive oversight for Schumacher Group’s risk management, clinical, and financial functions.
Dr. Pilgrim is regularly involved with issues of health policy at both state and national levels. As Chair of EDPMA (Emergency Department Practice Management Association), he serves members that impact over half of the 125 million annual ED visits in the U.S. EDPMA significantly influences legislative and regulatory measures that affect the sustainable delivery of quality emergency care.
As faculty for ACEP’s Scientific Assembly, Dr. Pilgrim lectures on clinical and management topics. In addition, he consistently works with the ACEP ED Director Academy, teaching and mentoring Medical Directors in both initial and advanced coursework. In 2008, he was honored as an ACEP Speaker of the Year. He is a member of ACEP’s Federal Government Affairs and Medical/Legal Committees and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for Louisiana’s ACEP Chapter. He resides in Lafayette, Louisiana with his wife Julie, and their two children.
