Schumacher Group Sponsors Residency Competition at ACOEP in Las Vegas, Nevada

Lafayette, LA - December 17, 2008 - This year’s Clinical Pathology Competition and Luncheon was an exciting event, with a large turn out of attendees that exceeded our expectations. The competition was a much anticipated event during the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP) Scientific Seminars, which took place this year in Las Vegas October 26th through 30th.

The full-day competition was an opportunity for Residents to present real clinical cases to faculty members from different hospitals. The event spanned the day of October 27th, where upwards of 20 cases were presented. Physician judges, who observed the presentations, used a five-point scale to assess each presentation and case according to ten criteria. This year Schumacher Group’s Director of Medical Informatics, Mark Mitchell, DO, FACOEP, served as a judge along with other members of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians.

Winners for the competition were announced October 29th at the FOEM Luncheon. The first place winners were each congratulated with a monetary award of $500.00. First place was awarded to Dr. Tammy Dietz as well as Dr. Dean Olsen. The second place winners were each congratulated with a monetary award of $250.00. Second place went to Dr. John Mearns as well as Dr. Karen Greenberg. The third place winners were each congratulated with a monetary award of $125.00. This award went to Dr. Mary Hughes as well as Dr. Christopher Steinacker.
