ED Operational Assessment

A consulting service valued at over $50,000, but provided at no extra cost to our client facilities, Schumacher Group's ED Operational Assessment is an on site consulting service designed with patient care as the primary driver. The assessment is not a 'cut and dry' project that ends after we conduct the analysis but rather the beginning of a continuous system improvement process involving the entire emergency department staff, physicians, administration and ancillary service staff.

The assessment includes:

  • A two (2) to three (3) day direct observation
  • Interviews
  • Chart review
  • Process and systems review
  • Statistical data analysis
  • An action plan and subsequent work group involvement

Performance and Quality Metrics

Monitoring quality data is critical. Schumacher Group's facility dashboard exhibits significant data on quality of care and patient satisfaction in an impacting, quickly digestible format. Components include Core Measures, patient satisfaction, efficiencies, corporate/facility initiatives, etc. - the issues that are of top concern to our clients and to us in ensuring quality.

In addition to the Dashboard, Schumacher Group provides monthly Emergency Department Operational Graph sets to our clients based on data obtained that is obtained through our coding and billing processes. Because we think it is critical that our clients monitor important trends, an array of statistical reports is available, to include volume trends, turn around times, top diagnoses, patient origin, patient flow, and more.
